Griffin SmartDeck: Cassette Adapter for iPod

I already use a cassette deck adapter for my iPod when I drive (the audio quality is soooo much better than the FM transmitters I've tried)... I think it's a Sony model I bought at Target. It's worked great, but it looks like it's headed for the junk pile.

Griffin has announced what it calls a "Cassette Adapter with a Brain" called the SmartDeck. It does something I had never imagined might be possible: It allows you to control your iPod with the buttons on your car stereo.

What does that mean, exactly? Here goes:
  • Fast Forward and Rewind buttons cause the iPod to advance to next or prior tracks
  • Stop and Pause do just that
  • Turn off the power, switch to FM, or Eject: the iPod pauses
There's another cool feature: SmartDeck adjusts the volume of your iPod to the optimal level for good audio quality.

Even better, it sells (Okay, pre-sells) for about the same price as "DumbDecks": $24.99.
