New Widescreen Camcorder from Canon

Canon has announced a new entry-level wide-screen format camcorder: the DC100.

The DC100 records digital video directly to a 3-inch DVD-R/RW disc. The DC100 allows you to switch between 4:3 and true 16:9 aspect ratios. You get a 25x optical zoom, capped off by 1000x digital zoom.

Additional features include Image Stabilization, Level Shot Control, and a letter box viewfinder when shooting in widescreen mode.

The DC100 will be available in May. Amazon has is available for pre-order for $499.99.

If I read Canon's site correctly they indicate that their DVD video camera is not compatible with a Mac. We are at a Conference and we couldn't get Sony's DVD video camera to work with a Mac.
