Protective Shell for MacBook Pro

Speck Products is now shipping a two-piece protective shell for the MacBook Pro called the SeeThru.

It comes in red or clear, and simply clips on to the top and bottom of your MacBook Pro.It protects your MacBook with a shatter-proof shell, but still provides access to all ports, the lid latch, and the optical drive slot.

I really like the red color! Get one now for just $39.99.

It seems to me that this is a really BAD idea. It's hard enough to keep these damn things cool, so what could possibly be a worse idea than wrapping them in a nice thick layer of insulating acryllic!?!

MacWorld has a review of the SeeThru which states that it does not make it much hotter, since the MacBook Pro sheds heat primarily through the keyboard and the rear vents, neither of which are affected by the SeeThru.

If you want to protect your MacBook from scratches, try the cool felt sleeves at MacCover.com. They're really nice, handmade with real leather straps. You can put them on your lap as insulation as well when your mac gets too hot! They cost only 39,95 euro.
